Located between Nicaragua on the
North and Panama on the south, Costa Rica is an ecological hot spot
located on the Central American isthmus. There are multiple attractions
present all around the country including mountains, volcanoes, lakes,
beaches, rivers and forests making Costa Rica one of the most preferred
tourist destinations in the world.
The entire country is divided by volcanoes and mountain ranges. There
are four distinct mountain ranges or cordilleras running from the
northwest to the southeast corners of the country. These include the
Guanacaste range, Tilaran range, Central range and Talamance range.
Cerro Chirripo located in Costa Rica is the fifth highest peak in
Central America. The highest volcano in the country is the Irazu
Volcano. While the largest lake in the country is Lake Arenal.
Costa Rica has a mild tropical climate making the country a pleasant
destination for vacation any time round the year. Costa Rica has only
two seasons with the rainy season extending from May to November and the
dry season from December to April. The annual rainfall the country is
around 100 inches. The dense rain forests located in the region are home
to more than 5 percent of the world's biodiversity. There are numerous
tourist resorts and hotels present in the country offering different
tourist packages that also include various adventure sports like
surfing, trekking, mountaineering, mountain biking, river rafting,
hiking and scuba diving.
Citizens of America, Canada and Panama can enter Costa Rica with a
tourist card and an identification proof. Citizens of all other
countries require a valid passport and travel visa to enter Costa Rica.
Mode of transportation in the country is by bus. However, there are
taxis available in the country connecting main cities and villages.
